The partnership between Kaiserslautern and the city of Pleven has been in existence since 1999. Thanks to its central location in the north of Bulgaria, Pleven has evolved into an important administrative, economic, cultural and educational center. Numerous museums, monuments and interesting buildings are reminders of Pleven’s 730 years of history. The cityscape is characterized by the imposing waterworks on the central square, the picturesque monument "Panorama", and nearby Kajlaka Park.
