Ritter Reinhard circular route (Hohenecken Castle)

Reinhard von Lautern was the progenitor of the Kaiserslautern ministerial dynasty, which was in the service of the emperor and was given Hohenecken Castle as a fief in the first half of the 13th century. His son Siegfried II was the first to bear the name of the castle in his name and called himself “Syfridus de Hoheneck”, Siegfried von Hoheneck.

The Hoheneck dynasty reached another peak with Reinhard III von Hoheneck. Not only did he hold the office of imperial mayor, but he was also entrusted with Trifels Castle and the imperial jewels by the Roman-German King Richard of Cornwall between 1269 and 1273. When he married Kunigund von Homburg, he was elevated to the rank of knight. Follow in his footsteps...
