As one of the landmarks of the city, the Fruchthalle characterises the centre of Kaiserslautern. It was built from 1843 to 1846. The building, which is reminiscent of the palazzi of Early Florentine Renaissance, is considered the most important secular building in the Palatinate. Until 1901, the fruit and cereal market of Kaiserslautern took place on the ground floor, hence the name (“Fruit Hall“). In 1981, the Fruchthalle was listed as a cultural monument. Above the market hall on the ground floor, there is a concert and festivity hall extending over two floors, which is surrounded by arcades and includes a stage. This prime location is predestined for receptions, balls and conferences.
